📍 Regional Workshop on Sustainable Gastronomy Tourism in the Pacific Experiences, Itineraries & Value Chains | Nadi, Fiji 🇫🇯 How can we connect agrifood systems with sustainable tourism — in a way that uplifts communities and protects ecosystems? In Nadi, over 70 producers, tourism operators, and institutional partners from across the Pacific came together to answer this question. Organized by UN Tourism, the Mountain Partnership of the United Nations, and the Pacific Tourism Organisation, the workshop focused on co-creating authentic experiences and itineraries that celebrate Pacific identity, biodiversity, and resilience. 🌱 Gastronomy tourism is more than what’s served — it’s about who grows the food, how it’s shared, and why it matters. Discussions focused on: 🔹 Key drivers behind the global rise of sports tourism 📈 🔹 Success stories from destinations like Murcia and Nayarit 🌊🌞 🔹 The role of air transport, with insights from IBERIA ✈️ 🔹 Emerging segments such as active tourism and immersive sports experiences 🚴♂️🎮 🔹 The importance of long-term strategies to ensure positive legacy and manage mass tourism sustainably ♻️📊 On this occasion, Ion Vilcu, Director of the Affiliate Members and Public-Private Collaboration Department at UN Tourism, shared recommendations for destinations on how to strategically position themselves and leverage sports tourism as a tool for development and territorial promotion 🧭🌐.

🎓 UN Tourism was pleased to welcome a delegation from Wakayama University, Japan, as they marked the 10th anniversary of their Affiliate Membership.
